Carl A. "Curley" Ramsey, age 82, of Gasport, entered into rest at his new home, in Lockport, on Monday, August 2, 2010. Born February 14, 1928, in Fola, WV, he was the son of the late Bennett J. and Jeanetta (Fitzwater) Ramsey.. Carl married Marilyn Roberts, October 13, 1956 at their home in Gasport. He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses of the Middleport Congregation. He was a member of the American Federated Musicians Union of Lockport. He played the fiddle professionally for the Stanley Brother's Blue Grass Band. He also played with his late father-in-law, Cy Roberts, and the Troubadours and the Rhythmaires, winning many awards for his unique way of playing. He had lived in Gasport most of his life.. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Roberts) Ramsey of Lockport; his son, Terry Ramsey of Lockport and daughters, Brenda (Jeffrey) Baehr of Lockport and Diana (Eddie) Roper of Harlen, KY. Dear grandfather of Shawn Ramsey, Jamie Baehr, Brandon Baehr, Anthony Ramsey, Ashley Kinder, Ashley Brose and Eddie Roper III. Brother of Evelyn (Darrell) Moore of Belva, WV and the late Ruby Morris, Wavie Deboard, Mabel Sargent and Harold, Paul and Kermit Ramsey. Seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many friends also survive him.. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport on Thursday from 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM from the funeral home, with Leonard Rosselli officiating. Interment will be in Bates Road Cemetery, Medina, NY.
