Born January 24, 1937 in Castorland, the son of Everett E. and Nina H. (Hirschey) Hall, he was educated at Beaver River Central School. Following his education, Bub went to work for his father at E.E. Hall General Contracting out of Castorland in 1954, which was the first contracting company in Lewis County to have a backhoe.  He remained with his father’s company operating heavy equipment until 1958, when he became self-employed owning and operating a log trucking business until 1960, when he bought his father’s farm on Van Amber Road in Castorland.

He was united in marriage to Linda J. Martin on August 23, 1958 at St. Stephen’s Church in Croghan.

Following his marriage, in addition to the continuation of his family’s farm operation, he was elected Town of New Bremen Highway Superintendent in 1972, a position he was continuously re-elected to and worked for until his retirement after 42 years of service on December 31, 2013.

Bub was a member of the New York State Highway Superintendent’s and Lewis County Highway Superintendent’s Associations, and was an honorary member of the Beaver River Fish & Game Club.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed many hobbies and interests, and was particularly fond of remodeling Ford farm tractors.  He also liked traveling to antique shows and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife, Linda, of 61 years, are four children and their spouses including his son, Dale H. and Denise Hall, of Castorland; three daughters, Vicki A. and Kevin Meyer, of Castorland, Jodi M. and Richard Meyer, of Carthage, and Holly L. and Clancey O’Donnell, of Castorland; eleven grandchildren and sixteen (soon to be seventeen) great grandchildren; a sister, Lois Cole, of Syracuse; his brother-in-law, Gerald Eaton of Castorland, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his great grandson, Chase Alexander Meyer, and three sisters, Vivian Sauter, Dorothy Manzer and Marjorie Eaton.
