Hattie and Clint lived in Mission, TX (Rio Grand Valley)before being transferred to Alice, Texas with the Halliburton company. Three of their children were born in the Rio Grand Valley. In Alice, both Hattie and Clint became very active in West Main Baptist Church and later First Baptist Church. Hattie was WMU president attending many WMU conferences in Waco, TX. She was a Girl Scout leader when her daughter, Vicky was in Girl Scouts. She also was president of the South Texas Cancer Society for several years. She belonged to the Alice Optimist Club where she served twice as president and was also voted "Optimist of the Year". She was also preceded in death by her parents Walton Allen Sawyers and Lottie Ellen Sawyers; sisters; Anna Ruth Sawyers, and Georgola Herro; Jeffrey Allen McFarland, Jr.; nephews; Sammy Joe Herro, and George Herro.
