Born May 16, 1933, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late, Ervin Jacob Brown and Mary Brady Brown.
Ned was educated in the Rowan County Schools. He was a member of Organ Lutheran Church, the Men's Bible Sunday School Class, an Usher, Greeter, and was on the property committee. He had worked with Brown Brothers Masonry and had been self-employed for the last 25 years.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline "Polly" Cauble Brown on Dec. 31, 1989.
Survivors include wife, Margaret Shue Brown, whom he married Dec. 28, 1991; daughters, Susan B. Baker and husband Howard of Tyro, Angie B. Freeze and husband Dale of China Grove, Gail Foster and husband John of Gold Hill, Revonda Brady of Greensboro, Cindy Mackin and husband Dan of Matthews; sons, Frank Brady, Phil Brady and wife Sandra of Gold Hill; brother, John Brown of Salisbury; sisters, Rose Swicegood and husband Louie of Salisbury, and Martha Eller and husband, Ned of Salisbury; grandchildren, Jason Foster, Jeremy Foster and wife, Aubrey, Michael Baker, Christy Baker, Derek Freeze, Ashley Freeze, Leslie Freeze, Erin Freeze, Ashtyn Brady, Lauren Brady, Matthew Brady, Macy Kottyan and Spencer Kottyan.
Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell and the remainder of the time at the residence.
Service: 3 p.m. Friday, May 29, at Organ Lutheran Church, Salisbury, conducted by Rev. Terrell Long, Pastor and Rev. Robert Yount, Visitation Pastor.
Burial: Will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Rockwell.
