Evelyn R. Auchey, at the age of 95, of Hanover, PA; passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. Born on Tuesday, June 10, 1924 in Hanover, PA; she was a daughter of the late Fern Melvin and Annie Eliza (Reigle) Garrett, and wife of the late Harry S. Auchey, who died in 1994. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Epley, five siblings, a son-in-law, Austin “Abe” Mills, and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Auchey. A member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Evelyn worked as a cook at South Western High School for more than 30 years before her retirement in 1993. She was a great cook who enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting, and doing jigsaw puzzles. Survivors include four sons, Jack A. Auchey, of Hanover, PA; Jay M. Auchey and his wife, Donna, of Glenville, PA; Jan M. Auchey and his wife, Linda, of East Berlin, PA; and Jed D. Auchey and his wife, Michelle, of Hanover, PA; two daughters, Christine L. Mills of Hanover, PA; and Barbara A. Bond and her husband, William, of McSherrystown, PA; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Sarah Winters of McSherrystown, PA; and a son-in-law, Robert Epley of Hanover, PA; Services for Mrs. Auchey will be private.
