Odell Williams, 82, of Kitts Hill, OH passed away Monday, September 16, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Jellico, Kentucky, June 11, 1937, the son of the late Russell Williams and Verlie Williams (Gullett). He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Heaberlin Williams.
Odell lived most of his life in Kitts Hill and was a graduate of Rock Hill High School. He worked at the Kitts Hill Dairy prior to working and later retiring from AT&T Telephone Company, formerly Ohio Bell. He was a member of Mamre Baptist Church and served on the Hecla Water Board for nearly 12 years. He was also a 4-H advisor and a member of the Lawrence County Draft Horse and Mule Association. He served in the Army Reserve in 1957.
He enjoyed raising goats and chickens and sharing his experience with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also liked to spend time with friends sharing stories at flea markets or in his gun shop, “Williams Swap & Shop.”
He was preceded in death by step-siblings, Maxine Gullett (Martin), Marvin Gullett, Merriel Gullett and Emma Day Gullett (Turley); and half-brother, James (Donna) Gullett. Surviving half-siblings are, Harold (Nancy) Gullett, Anita Louise (Roy) Marcum and Annabel (Bill) Tipton.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Karen Williams of Mulliken, Michigan and Keith and Lisa Williams of Kitts Hill; one daughter and son-in-law, Lana and Mark Dickess of Kitts Hill; grandchildren, Brian Scott (Kelly) Williams of Charlotte, Michigan, Robert (Erica) Williams of Okemos, Michigan, Eric (Amber) Williams of Grand Ledge, Michigan, Bridgette (Derek) Malone of Pedro, Ohio, Mitchell (Brandy) Dickess, Gretchen (Adam) James and Michael Williams, all of Kitts Hill; and ten great grandchildren, Hunter, Madelyn, Elijah, Adisyn, Judah, Malachi, Emma, Colin, Claire and Rex.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, September, 19, 2019 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point with Pastor Ryan McKee and Pastor John Paul Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Mamre Cemetery, Kitts Hill. Friends may call from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Michael Williams, Mitchell Dickess, Scott Williams, Hunter Williams, Bob Williams and Eric Williams. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice or Mamre Cemetery. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.
