Mr. Fuqua was born Jan. 19, 1919 in Hamilton County. [Parents: Ben Newton Fuqua & Annie Bell House] He was married to Georgia Alice Westfall on May 31, 1941 at Carlton. [Hamilton County Marriage Record Bk. 10, p. 394] He was a World War II veteran with amphibious forces in the South Pacific. He attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Annie House Fuqua; a daughter, Debra Fuqua Furlow; two sisters, Amber Allen and Charlie May Dauphanais and four brothers, Doc Fuqua, J.C. Fuqua, Elmo Fuqua and Robert Fuqua.
Survivors include his wife of Lamesa; a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Sherry Fuqua of Big Spring; a sister, Ruby Harlin of Lampasas; two granddaughters and their husbands, Audra and Mike Barkowsky of Lamesa and Vanessa and Martin Gill of Lubbock and four great-grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to Harvest Community Church.
