Mr Roy C. Gilmour
News of the passing of Roy C. Gilmour, a former resident of Almonte, in the Civic Hospital, Ottawa, on Sunday, Dec 8th, was received here with deep regret. Mr Gilmour was 53 years of age and was born in Almonte, a son of the late A.C. Gilmour and Mrs Gilmour. He learned the hardware business in Almonte with the firm of Torrence and Kauffman in the location now occupied by Lee's Hardware and was a general favourite in the town. Later he went to Toronto where he was engaged in the furniture business. He served overseas during the First Great War. Some months ago Mr Gilmour retired from business in Toronto and went to reside in Ottawa. His death on Sunday followed a brief illness. Surviving are his widow, the former Martha Louise Fanning, (formerly of Carleton Place); his mother, Mrs A.C. Gilmour of Ottawa; two children, Ruth and George Allan Gilmour, at home; one brother H.D. Gilmour of Carleton Place; two sisters, Mrs W. Bryan of Ottawa and Mrs S. Turnbull of Newark, N.J. Two brothers predeceased him. The funeral was held on Wednesday, Dec 11th, from the residence of Mrs Edward Fanning, Ottawa, and thence to Almonte, where interment was made in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Rev G.C.R.
