Vernon Dual Long, age 74, was called home suddenly and unexpectedly on September 11, 2019. He was born on December 18, 1944 in Kansas City, MO to the late Robert and Antionette Long. Vernon graduated high school in Atlanta, GA and attended one year of college. He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran and member of the Elks Lodge #497 in Pensacola Beach. Vernon retired from the Solutia Chemical Plant, and most recently worked for Enterprise Rent-a-Car.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Robert “Butch” Long. Those left to cherish his memory are his longtime companion, Pat Dasinger; son, William Eric Long of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Charlotte Long Holbrooke and Karen Long Allen also of Atlanta, GA; many cousins; nephews; great-nieces; constant canine companion, Mia; and a host of friends and colleagues.

Memorial visitation will begin at 4:00pm until the memorial service begins at 5:00pm on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, 5725 N. 9th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504. In lieu of flowers donations in Vernon’s name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at support.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate. Special thanks are offered to Joyce Gardner for her vigilant friendship. The family’s deepest gratitude to the staff of West Florida Hospital CCU/ICU and Select Specialty Hospital for their compassion and care.
