Son of Henry Sadler (1780-1850) and Elizabeth R. "Polly" Vaughn (1793-1835) . Married Mary Frances Anderson Dec. 18 , 1842 .

Information from : Book Published 2000 - "Civil War Soldiers from Brunswick County , Virginia " written by Dr.William M. Pritchett .
Private John F. Sadler enlisted on Feb.9,1863 at Sturgeonville , Va. and became a member of in the Ebenezer Gray's . It is thought that he fought in the Battles of Gettysburg & The Wilderness . He fought at the Battle of Cold Harbor on June 1-3,1864 & was wounded in the hand .
War records placed John Sadler in Colman's Artillery when he was injured in an explosion in 1864 . He got a concussion and spent considerable time in the hospital .Hospital records show that he spent time in the Danville Hospital ,Danville , Va. and Chimorazo Hospital in Richmond, Va.
We do not know when John Sadler's service in the Civil War ended , but we do know that he was in service as late as 1865 . John F. Sadler came home fro the Civil War & returned to farming .
Confederate soldier,Private John F. Sadler died in Brunswick County,Va. on Aug.2,1887 at the age of sixty one . He is buried in the Sadler Family Cemetery .
