Debra "Deb" (Fitterer) Hankins was born in Litchfield, MN on January 16, 1956 to her loving parents, Eugene and Mary Jane (Krautkremer) Fitterer. Deb graduated from Litchfield Senior High School in 1974 and went on to complete the culinary program at Ridgewater College in Willmar. She spent seven years working for Caterpillar, Inc. in Bloomington, MN, where she made many lifelong friends.

Deb raised and homeschooled their two children while helping make a beautiful home for her family for many years of her life. In 2001, she went to work for Cleveland Public School where she spent her remaining working years. She loved being able to work closely with the children, staff, and families of the Cleveland community.

Deb loved supporting the Minnesota Vikings and enjoyed telling people about her commemorative brick that her family gave her as a 60th birthday gift at US Bank Stadium. Deb kept her friends and family fed with the tastiest treats that no one can seem to recreate, from cookies to lemon bars. She enjoyed feeding all the birds in Le Sueur County, as her family jokingly would tell her. She supported her children in all their many sporting, musical, educational, and career endeavors, along with her husband’s “political” career as Cleveland Township Treasurer. She regularly shared what Snoopy and Woodstock were up to in their comic strip. Deb was committed to her faith and was a pillar of strength in her church, where she was known for her hugs and kind words.

Deb is survived by her husband, Mark; daughter, Michelle; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Jordan; siblings, Donald (Jackie French) Fitterer of La Crosse, WI, David (Robin) Fitterer of Cokato, Dorothy (Kirk) Lundin of Litchfield, Dan Fitterer of Litchfield, and Diane Parker of Findlay, OH; many nieces, nephews, and close family friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and father-in-law, John Hankins.

Visitation will be held from 4-8pm, Friday, December 14, 2018. Memorial service will be at 3pm, Saturday, December 15, 2018 with a luncheon following. Both will be held at New Creation World Outreach Church in North Mankato.

Memorials are preferred to the family, which will be distributed to Deb’s favorite organizations.--Mankato Mortuary
