Born to John Merrifield (1792–1873) & his second wife, Mary Elizabeth Foreman Merrifield (1802–1869). Catherine was a twin to Joseph Foreman Merrifield. She and family moved to Texas from Nelson County, Kentucky after 1850. By 1860, they were living in Dallas County, TX.
Catherine was unmarried; no children. In 1880, she was a resident at the state lunatic asylum in Austin, TX, and her twin, Joseph Merrifield, was named her guardian by the court. She died at the asylum in 1883 (see record at left).
