Robert Christian Key, age 77, a resident of Spanish Fort, AL. passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019.
Chris was an avid outdoorsman. He loved the sport of hunting and spent a lot of time at his family’s property in Grove Hill, AL. Chris was a celebrated athlete and was inducted into the first class of the Fairhope High School Sports Hall of Fame. His biggest joy was to watch his daughters and grandchildren play sports. “Paw” was guaranteed to be at the field, tracking stats in his chair outside the fence and always looking for a good deal on an entry fee.
Chris was a graduate of the University of Alabama and went on to serve four years in the Army. Chris was promoted to 1st Lieutenant, serving in Korea. Chris began his professional career in the Insurance Industry in the early 1970s and was still selling policies 45 years later!
Chris is survived by his daughters Ashleigh C. Key (Sweatt) and Mary E. Key, his stepson Morgan A. Barnett, and grandchildren Mary C. Sweatt and Hunter J. Sweatt: brother Vick Speed.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at 1:00PM at New Live Oak Cemetery, Selma AL.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in honor of Chris to Alabama Forever Wild Land Trust ( https://www.alabamaforeverwild.com/donate-forever-wild )
