Mr. Malan was born in Ogden, May 18, 1869, a son of John Daniel and Marie Louise Chatelain Malan. He received his education in Ogden and was a locksmith for a number of yers. He later went into the contracting business with his brother, Henry Malan. He was an active member of the L. D. S. church, belonging to Eighteenth ward high priest quorum.
He was married to Annie chapman Hill in the L. D. S. Logan temple, March 2, 1891. After her death he was married to Bertha Taylor in Salt Lake temple. May 8, 1917.
Mr. Malan is survived by his widow and the following sons and daughters: Clifford Albert, Horace Delbert, Leonard William, Lloyd Arthur, Clyde David, Seth Hill, Harvey John and Bertha June Malan and Mrs. Seth Smith, all of Ogden. He is also survived by six grandchildren and three brothers and sisters, Henry Malan, Mrs. Eliza Krumperman and Mrs. Thomas Disanza, all of Ogden.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at two o'clock in the L.D.S. Eighteenth ward chapel, with Bishop Grant Lofgreen officiating.
Friends may call at the Imperial room of the Deseret mortuary this evening and Wednesday until eleven a.m. and at the residence, rear 2756 Jefferson avenue, Wednesday afternoon and evening and Thursday until time of services.
Interment will be made in Ogden City cemetery.
