Mary Louise (Windy) Webber, 93, of Ellijay, died Saturday, Sept 7, 2019.

Mary Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Michael and Susan Webber of Cumming, Ga., and son Patrick Webber, of Jasper, Ga.; four grand-children, Laurel Webber of Cumming;. Kristina and Ben Botzong of Canton; and Capt. USA, Sean and Stephanie Webber; and 2nd Lt. USA, Connor and Jordan Webber, and many loving friends.

Mary Louise spent a life as a teacher and caregiver. She graduated with degrees in Chemistry and Biology from Roanoke College in Salem, Va., and completed Masters work in those two subjects from William and Mary. She was first hired to teach at Andrew Lewis High School in Salem, Va.

In 1961 Mary Louise, husband Charlie and children Michael and Patrick moved to Roswell, Ga., where she taught at Roswell High School. Mary Louise and Charlie helped start the midget football and youth baseball . Many times Mary Louise would offer rides to children lacking transportation, and made sure money was never a reason a child didn’t play.

Mary Louise was also offered a position at the economic opportunity or ERA program, teaching adults to read and write. Mary Louise also helped create the youth Sunday school program at Roswell Presbyterian Church, where she made sure teachers maintained the necessary requirements.

She also found time to drive the Roswell librarian to downtown Atlanta where books were selected for the Roswell Public Library.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 21 at 3 p.m. at Logan Funeral Home in Ellijay. Visitation will be at 2. Mary Louise will be laid to rest with her husband at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton on Mon., Sept. 23. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Prayer Ministry at the Cumming First Methodist Church in Cumming.
