At approximately 25 weeks pregnant, Kayla Rickards felt a decrease in movement by her unborn daughter, Aurora Rickards. Due to the normal high energy by Aurora, Kayla was extremely concerned. Upon arrival to Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center in Panama City, doctors agreed an emergency C-Section was necessary after it was discovered she was bleeding into her placenta.
A beautiful baby girl was born at 1:46 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019, weighing 1 pound 15.7 ounces and 12 inches long. She was extremely tiny, fragile, and immediately taken to the NICU where she was closely monitored by hospital staff. Unfortunately, Aurora passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 3:08 p.m.
The chances of her survival were slim, but the family kept faith in Aurora’s fighting spirit. She had the cutest swirl of hair on her precious baby head and although small, her feisty personality left everyone she met with a smile.
Aurora’s physical being is no longer with her mother; older brother Colby, and older sisters Izzy and Anna, but she will always be dear to their heart. This passing is nonetheless tragic and suddenly unexpected.
Aurora was also survived by her grandparents Patricia and Joseph Rickards, aunt Natasha and Jon Paul Loesch; and cousins Autumn and Hailey.
Aurora was preceded by her uncle Joshua Rickards.
Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 at United Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Eastpoint Cemetery. Family will met at church at noon, with viewing between 1 and 2 p.m.
Due to limited funds, family and friends are seeking help those interested and able to assist with the funeral cost. For those not in a financial position to help, please send your love and prayers to the family. Sweet dreams to this sleeping beauty.
