Funeral services for Mrs. Christine "Tina Bay" Coleman, of Dexter, Georgia, will be held at 11 AM on Monday, September 16, 2019, at the Christian Hope Baptist Church, 1792 Highway 26 in Cochran. Reverend Kenneth Rozier will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Christine Arnita Edwards was born to Mr. John Wesley Edwards, Sr. and Mrs. Viola Butler Edwards on January 18, 1935. She was the second of three children and a graduate of Oconee High School in the Class of 1953. After graduation, she married K.B. Coleman and from this union came five children. She started her employment at Dudley Hair Salon and ended with Oxford Industries where she worked as a production worker for over twenty-five years. She was loved tremendously by family and friends, served faithfully at Christian Hope Baptist Church as president of the Usher's Ministry for fifty-eight years, and supported the West Laurens High School Basketball Team on every occasion possible.
While she enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother, friend and church member, she most enjoyed bringing together people with great food and having fun with good laughs. Though she was a lot of things to many people, she would always seek to be a friendly face to a complete stranger. It was one of the many qualities she tried to pass onto her children and loved ones. Mrs. Coleman passed away on September 11, 2019.
Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by her father, John W. Edwards, Sr. mother, Viola Matilda Edwards, sister, Mildred Chappell, and her husband, K.B. Coleman. She leaves behind fond and loving memories to be cherished by her five children, Johnny C. (Nadine) Coleman, Alice F. (Edward) Hunlen, Michael C. Coleman (friend, Ruthie King), Larry J. Coleman and Tonya R. Coleman, brothers, John W. (Gwen) Edwards, Jr., and David (Claire) Boston, sister, Janie Fuller, sisters-in-law, Glover Lou Kurtz, Drucilla (Stanley) Clarke, Claudia Coleman, Mattie Ruth Coleman, Ella Mae Ashley, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and beloved friends.
The family is receiving friends at 303 Cemetery Road in Dexter on Friday and Saturday, 2-8 PM, and on Sunday, 3-5 PM, and at the Dudley Funeral Home on Sunday, 6-7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the Coleman family requests contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation via https://www.kidney/org in memory of Mrs. Christine E. Coleman; the foundation helps clients navigate the challenges of kidney disease, organ donation and transplantation.
