Obituary for David B. Cooke
David B. Cooke, 58, of Orange, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at M.D. Anderson.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 15, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Pastor Lance Faulkner.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Sunday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.

Born in Presidio, California, on December 3, 1960, Dave was the son of Johnnie S. Cooke and Shirley D. Richmond. He was a father, brother, and friend who would have loved nothing more than to be buried in the front seat of a 57’ Chevy, with Don McLean’s “American Pie” stuck on repeat. Dave “Super Dave” Cooke taught us that being “Super” does not entail flying over buildings to save the entire planet. It is as easy as consistently bringing joy and laughs to family, friends, and strangers alike. Saving the world by coaxing one smile or chuckle at a time. We are all preceded by a talented professional who excelled at building relationships on and off the clock.

David worked in retail management for many years. He was a part of YMBL and a member of Bridge Point Fellowship Church in Bridge City. Family, BBQ, beer, music, and a bonfire were always his favorite nights. In no particular order as long as family always came first. You will truly be missed Dave. We can’t wait to see you at the levee that will never go dry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Shirley Cooke; brothers, John Cooke, Danny Cooke, and Randy Cooke.

He is survived by his sons, Jonathan Cooke and wife Debbie Ruiz, Nicholas Cooke, and Cowboy Cooke; grandchild, Kaelan Cooke; siblings, Pamela Somppi, Wayne Cooke, Debbie Payne, Tammy Perez, and Barbara Arbaugh; mothers of his children, Vicky Cooke and Joni Cooke; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Cremation is under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home.
