In Memory of Beverly Jean Simmons, age 69, of Aplington, Iowa, was born the daughter of Mervin Dale and Paradea Verna (VanErem) Simmons on February 17, 1950, in Waterloo, Iowa. Beverly graduated from East High School in Waterloo in 1968. After her high school graduation, Beverly attended LaJames Cosmetology School in Waterloo.
Beverly lived in the Waterloo, Aplington and Parkersburg area her entire life. She was a waitress for various restaurants, including Holiday Inn in Waterloo and Pizza Ranch in Parkersburg. Beverly retired due to health issues.
Beverly was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Parkersburg, where she helped with various church activities. Beverly enjoyed sewing and crafting. She was also a great cook and just a few of her family’s favorites were her apple pie, jam and potato salad.
Beverly passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at her home in Aplington. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mervin and Paradea Simmons; a sister, Juanita Guyer; a niece, Suzanne Simmons; and a nephew, Mervin Simmons.
Beverly is survived by two daughters, Lisa Vanderlind of Marion, Iowa and Alexis (Brock) Beadle of Hampton, Iowa; one son, John Simmons of Sacramento, California; two grandchildren, Robert Vanderlind and Benjamin Simmons; two brothers, Mervin (Lucille) Simmons and Tom (Kerry) Simmons; two sisters, Kathy (Rob) Roy and Katie Torrey.
Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 14, 2019, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Parkersburg, with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg.
Visitation will be before the memorial service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Parkersburg.
