Juanita Keller Coleman, age 94 of Decherd, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. She was born and raised in the Alto Community. After retiring from ARO, she became deeply involved in the community. She was a member of the Alto FCE Club and oftentimes an officer on the County FCE. Her hobbies were various arts and crafts but her skills were unsurpassed. She often entered her counted cross stitch works or her quilts in various competitions and seemed to always bring home a ribbon, many times as “The Best of Show”. She was heavily involved in Christ Episcopal Church at Alto and made many things for the church such as the banner, garments for the ministry and numerous wall hangings. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Lee Keller and Alene Clark Keller; her husband, Virgil Coleman; and her brother, William Lee Keller. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Jones of Orange, CA; son, Joe Jones of Decherd; step-daughter, Diane Alexander of Murfreesboro; granddaughter, Prairie Powers of Winchester; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Friday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Christ Episcopal Church Alto with interment following at Mt. Garner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be given to the American Alzheimer’s Association.
