Mike Arthur Lewis, 63 was called home with God on Sunday September 8, 2019. Mike was born on August 4, 1956 in Buchanan to the union of Ulyless and Geola Lewis. Mike was a lifelong resident of Buchanan. As a young child Mike confessed Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized at Porter Community A.M.E Church. He maintained his belief in Jesus Christ throughout his entire life and the Book of Romans was his favorite.

Mike is survived by his mother, Geola; his wife Marsha Lewis; sons, Elijah Lewis, Jacobi Cashier; daughters, Mikee Lewis, Michaela Greer; brother, Joseph Lewis; sisters, Gloria Lewis, Viola Cashier, Genia Manning; grandchildren, Brooklyn Burns, Brysen Burns, and Seth Greer; and many nieces and nephews,

He is preceded in death by his father, Ulyless; and nephew, Joseph Arthur Lewis “Baby Joseph”.

When Mike was a child, he stayed busy and became a member of the Boy Scouts of America at 10 years old. He had his first job as a Paperboy at 13 and later worked at Moccasin Elementary at 15. When Mike was in High School, he discovered his talent with wood working and turned that talent into a career in Carpentry. He worked with Carpenters Local 525 and for many years did great works from remodeling homes and churches to building highway bridges.

He had a passion for barbecuing, and he was known for inviting everyone to his events. Mike was a big jokester and brought a piece of Joy to everyone that he knew. He loved all of his friends and cherished his family. Ask anyone and they will tell you of a time that he made them laugh and smile.

Funeral service for Mike will be at 12 pm Friday, September 13, 2019 at Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ, 1102 Red Bud Trail N, Buchanan, MI 49107. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.
