Ernie was the founder of David Construction, serving the Grey Bruce area. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed his annual trips up north to relax and take in fishing, hunting and moose hunting, enjoying his time spent outdoors and in the cabin that he himself had constructed and built. Always a man with busy hands and tinkering, he would often think outside of the box trying to come up with new and better ways to have an item serve his needs. Growing up in the depression, things were definitely not wasted and with this mentality, it served him well when raising his family with Ruby and the kids on their farm outside of Neustadt. Family members will always remember the 100 trees he himself planted on their property, as he was just as proud of this feat.
