Darrell was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean conflict. Throughout the years he worked for Juvenile Shoe Factory in Aurora, EFCO Corporation in Monett and was a salesman for Wheeler Furniture Store in Aurora. He was an avid blue grass musician and played music with the County Line Group and attended the Aurora First Baptist Church. On June 9, 1956, he married Ramona Snider in Aurora, Missouri.
Darrell is survived by Ramona, his wife of 63 years; two sons: Brian Hilton and Aaron Hilton and his wife, Sharon, all of Aurora; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven sisters: Janet Mitchell, Carolyn Jean Lawson, Nancy Sue Brown, Jackie Lathrop, Francis Harris, Judy Bauman, and Lynna Kay Bloom; and three brothers: Joe Hilton and his wife, Millie, Jimmy Hilton and Dale Hilton. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hazel; two sisters, Martha Russell and Christine McCarthy; and two brothers, John Boyd and Harry Hilton.
Funeral service Monday, September 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora. Burial with full military honors at 1:00 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
