"Charles” Franklin Echols, age 70 of Carrollton, passed away September 10, 2019. He was born July 28, 1949 in Washington, Georgia, son of Imogene Wilkinson Echols and the late James Franklin Echols. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. He was a retired educator after having served Carroll County School System and Douglas County School System for more than 26 years as a teacher. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a sister, Merigene Gaskin. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Miles Echols of Carrollton; his mother, Imogene Wilkinson Echols of Augusta; daughter and son-in-law, Elise and Rev. Troy White of Dallas, GA; sisters, Marilyn Lee (Gordon) of Cochran, Luree Echols of Calhoun, and Joy Carter (John) of North Augusta, SC; brother, William Echols of Augusta; and granddaughter, Lauren Diss of Lithia Springs. The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org .
