It has been suggested that the DOB is actually 10 Jul 1877 in Holmesville, Carleton County, New Brunswick, Canada.

There is not a true birth certificate for Ransford like everybody in that area of NB suffers from in that period of time. The date suggested is the answer that Ransford himself gave in the 1901 census. In the 1911 he gave the. exact same matching Month and year. His birthday was in July so when the NB census' were typically taken in Apr/May, so he had turned his exact age when the census was being taken.

His age given in the 1881 would lead to a birth year of 1877, The answer in the 1891 would lead to 1878. The age given in the 1916 was way skewed equaling 1884 and then the 1921 indicated 1880. So Clearly what his family gave for the date for the stone was clearly wrong, or the memorial company messed it up when etching and thought that the 1877 looked like 1871.

Ransford was born in Holmesville, NB I can 100% assure you. The house he lived in is still there.
