Services are set for 2 pm Tuesday in Williams Chapel near Tyler with the Rev Ray Montgomery officiating.
Burial will be in Williams Cemetery under direction of Loyd Funeral Home of Gilmer.
Mr Rush died Monday morning at his residence after a sudden illness.
A native of Smith County, he lived in Gilmer seven months, moving there from Tyler. He was a retired sawmill operator and a Baptist.
Mr. Rush was proceeded in death by his wife Lola Mae Rush(Duke) and his parents James Levi Rush, Sr. and Ida Mae Rush (Rockey), and his step mother who helped raise him Berlina Rush(Lunsford) his sons Walter Dee Rush; Willie Lee Rush; Roy Weldon Rush; and Billie Kenneth Rush, daughters Avenell Mozell Rush and Eva Estelle Rush and one granddaughter Lola Avenell Lewis. His brothers James Leonard Rush and George Lee Rush and sister Alice Elizabeth Rush and unknown sibling(resulted in mothers death)
Survivors include Three sons, Jonathan Elias Rush, Jr. and wife (Margie) , James Levi Rush, Jr., and Elmer Gene Rush and wife (Margie) all of Tyler, a daughter Betty Doyce Montgomery and Husband (Lester) of Gilmer, an adopted daughter, Mrs. Eloise Boozer of Tyler. In addition he is survived by his brothers Nathan Carl Rush and wife (Lillie); William Bryant Rush and wife (Freeda); Onis Kassort Rush and wife (Breva); Cecil Larry Rush and wife (Julia) and Melvin Levi Rush and wife (Mavis). In addition his sisters Annie Bell Shepherd (Rush) and Ethel Pauline Mowery (Rush) and husband Herman.
