Guy H. Blanchard, 80, of ...., died Monday, June 25 at a local nursing home after a long illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday from the chapel of Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Ralph Ford will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery...
Mr. Blanchard was born March 13, 1910 at Cotesfield to Horace and Buda Paist Blanchard. He grew up and attended school there until the 11the grade and then moved to Sacrament, Calif., where he lived with his siter, Irene Girard and graduated from high school there. He married Lillie Lassen on July 5, 1933 at Sterling, Colo. The couple farmed for several years at Cotesfield, Dannebrog and later Polk. He later worked for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads for many years. In 1957 the couple moved to Grand Island. Mr. Blanchard retired in 1974....
Survivors include his wife, Lillie; a daughter, Mrs. Tom (Marlene) Kosmicki of Ogallala; two grandchildren, and a brother, Floyd of Good Springs, Nev. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Cecile, Ida, Irene and Ellen, and two brothers, Edward and Raymond.
