Born in Little Valley, Saxton, R.R., June 17, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Orbison Charles and Ruth LaRue (Carberry) Brode. She was united in marriage to Walter Johnson Aug. 7, 1993, in Elkton, Maryland. Mr. Johnson survives at home.
Along with her husband, she is survived by a son, William K. Brown and wife, Carolyn (Smith); granddaughters, Amber Lucko and husband, Robert, Shauna Donovan and husband, Ryan, and Kaylin Ganbol and husband, Paul; and seven great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are sisters, Donna Lemin and Ruthann DeLuca and husband, Malvin; and her mother-in-law, Laura Johnson, who resided with her and her husband.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Omar C., Ellis E. “Tiny,” and Vaughn O. Brode.
Mrs. Johnson was of the Christian faith.
She was a 1958 graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved ones, going to gospel hymn sings, listening to Elvis, traveling to country music festivals, stopping at all the yard sales, looking at pictures and playing games on her computer. Mrs. Johnson was known in her family as the Scrabble champion. She also enjoyed going to the local carnivals and fairs and being known throughout the community as “Gram” and “Aunt Mae.”
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc., 5010 Railroad Ave., Broad Top City, with the Rev. Kathy Speck officiating. Interment will take place in the IOOF Cemetery, Broad Top City.
Friends will be received 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the funeral home.
