Nancy E. Neill Jarratt was the 4th daughter (5th child of 11) of Irish immigrant William Neill (born Ayrshire, Scotland, to Ohio, to Guadalupe County, TX) and his Ohio-born wife Mary Lawrence. "Nannie" married 1st Lt. David Mitchell "Mitch" Jarratt in Seguin on 21 Oct 1862. He died in 1885. Their only child was Henry Neill Jarratt (1873-1891). Henry, who at age 19 had just begun working as a printer at the San Antonio Express newspaper (today's Express-News) died of consumption at home with his mother at his side. Nancy spent her later years widowed and childless, living with her sister Rachel, then living at Texas State Hospital (formerly Southwest Asylum for the Insane). She died there of cancer in 1921 and is buried near her sisters Rachel Leech and Jane Dillon at St. Mary's Cemetery.
