Ellen Tautuk Lane, 80, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2018, in Anchorage, Alaska. She was born on December 22, 1937, in Kivalina, Alaska, to Jack and Amy Jones. She lived in Kivalina, Kotzebue, Fairbanks, Nome, and Anchorage, Alaska. On December 31, 1964 she married Jim Lane in Fairbanks. They were married 48 years before Jim's passing on October 30, 2013. Ellen stayed home and raised their three children, and she was very involved in their extracurricular activities. She also worked for the State of Alaska Division of Elections in Nome, Alaska. Ellen loved hunting, fishing and traveling with her husband all over the world. She was also known for being a very welcoming host to those who fished or hunted with Ellen and Jim, or visiting them at their home in Council, Alaska. She was so versatile and talented. She was an expert cook and baker; She sewed and knitted beautifully, and she was known for her craft work . Her ingenious talent won her several awards.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Amy Jones; her husband Jim Lane; her sisters, Rosa Longwell and Emily Yogis; and brother, Thurston Jones. Ellen is survived by her children, Patricia Lane, John Lane and Lorraine Hanna (Lawrence Hanna); her grandchildren, Chanel Lane, Caitlynn Hanna, Louis Hanna and Marcus Hanna; great-grand-daughter, Cienna Lane; brother-in-law, Don Lane (Sharon Lane) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2018, at 2pm. at the Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E. Street in Anchorage. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Kotzebue, Alaska 99752.
