Funeral services for Earl Wayne West will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, September 9, 2019 in the White Oaks Memorial Chapel with Brother Ervin Goodman officiating.
Committal service will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Earl, 69, of Oakdale, entered eternal rest on Friday, September 6, 2019 in Oakdale. He was born June 29, 1950 in Oakdale to the union of Ezra West and Eula (Coker) West.
He was a faithful member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, assistant song leader and Sunday School teacher. Earl enjoyed singing at many of the churches in the community. Before retiring, Earl worked at Vancouver Plywood Plant (Boise Cascade) as a dry end operator, worked for the Oakdale Community Hospital as a security guard and the Louisiana Department of Transportation in maintenance. He enjoyed his roses, fishing and squirrel hunting. He was a doting grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Eula West; his paternal grandparents, William B. and Virgie West; his maternal grandparents, Frank and Bertie Coker.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are: two daughters, Ashley West of Alexandra and Amber (Shane) Rollins of Oakdale; one brother, Louis Jerry (Pam) West of Oakdale; one sister, Patsy (Burnie) Stanley of Oakdale; four grandchildren, Sylar Jordan, Wyatt Jordan, Lane Jordan and Catherine Rollins; along with a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers to serve will be Jerry West II, Doug Douglas, Garret Douglas, Sid Johnson, Bill Smith and James West.
Honorary pallbearers to serve will be Dale Brandenburg, Thomas Phillips, Travis Monk, Sylar Jordan and Shane Rollins.
Visitation will be held in the White Oaks Memorial Chapel on Sunday, September 8, 2019 from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m.; then on Monday, September 9, 2019 from 8 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. in the chapel.
