Agnes W. Polesky was born in Russell, MN on January 3, 1926 to Edward & Mary (Kingsborough) Polesky. Agnes was affectionately known by everyone as Aggie. Aggie grew up on a farm with her brother and two sisters. Aggie met and later married Ross Buchert in September of 1943. Aggie and Ross worked a small farm outside of Russell, MN. Aggie also waitressed at the Green Lantern and worked the switchboard when the first telephone company came to Russell. As a switchboard operator, she was in charge of sounding the noon whistle, the fire department whistles, turning on the city street lights, along with connecting calls at the switchboard. In July of 1945, their first son, Keith, was born. By 1953, the family had relocated to Mankato where in July 1957, a second son, Allen arrived.

While in Mankato, Aggie worked at Madsen's/Randall's grocery store as a cashier. Later she moved into the pharmacy and many other departments. Aggie loved to tend to her gardens and her flowers at her home. She enjoyed nature and especially birds. She loved to feed and watch as the birds would return in spring. She especially loved the gold finches, feeding them off her kitchen window and watching them come and go like an airport runway. Aggie and Ross were blessed to live next to Aggie's Sister, Marion and her family. Aggie and Marion loved to go for walks in their neighborhood, near Minneopa Golf Course and would find golf balls in the nearby woods, which they would then sell in egg cartons for “fun money”. Aggie was always very active and was able to say as a Grandma, she could still do handstands and roller skate! Aggie was a very competitive card player and loved to play 500, Euchre, do word search puzzles and enjoyed reading her bible. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Mankato. Aggie had a very outgoing personality and made many friends over her lifetime from wherever she lived and stayed in contact with them. Aggie had a very caring heart and enjoyed being able to lend a compassionate ear and give a cheerful lift to those in need. Aggie loved and was a magnet to dogs, always having treats available under her kitchen sink for when one might stop by. She loved getting cuddles and kisses from them.

Agnes is survived by her sons, Keith (Suzanne) and Al (Karen); grandchildren, Paula, Michelle (Dan) Hilfiker, Spencer (Rachel) and Katie (Travis) Lupke; great-grandchildren, Camden and Ellie Aggie; sisters, Marion (Lischefska) and Pearl (Driscoll). She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ross and her brother, James.--Mankato Mortuary
