Daughter of Charles & Elizabeth Roberts Markey. Charles & Elizabeth came to Iroquois County, IL in 1854 and remained until about 1861 when they returned to England leaving Mary in charge of four younger siblings. Her mother died in England the following year (1862) and Charles never rejoined his children in America. He remarried in 1864 and lived until 1883.
