Charles E. Chapman passed away August 28, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Anguilla, MS to Edgar Earl Chapman and Chessie Irene Jefferies. He spent his childhood in Belzoni, MS and relocated to Mobile as an adult. In his early 20's he formed his own company, Southern Sprinkler and Landscape, which led to a lifetime of successful business ventures. He was elected to the Mobile City Council to represent District 4 from October 1985 to September 1993. During his eight years on the City Council, he served as Council President. He also served on many boards including MAWSS and Mobile Airport Authority. Other accomplishments include developing commercial property along Rabbit Creek Drive and Rangeline Road. Most importantly he was always available to others and touched many lives with his generous spirit. Charles also had a passion for technology, including automobiles, planes, motorcycles and machinery. During his lifetime he owned over 50 automobiles, 2 planes, 3 motorcycles and several boats, which he enjoyed sharing with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda of 26 years, three children: Mike, Mark and Melissa, two step-children: Clay and Andrea, and eight grandchildren: Abby, Zach, Will, Lesley, Andrew, Griffin, Alivia, and Evan. Charles chose to donate his body to the USA Anatomical Board and requested cremation. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
