Vicky Lynn Larsen, age 45 of St. Charles, passed away suddenly at home, Monday, July
9, 2001. She was born August 9, 1955 the daughter of Grant and Delores Larsen in Aurora, IL.
Vicky grew up on a farm on Rt 30 and lived there for a time until 1965 when the family moved to Elburn. The family lived behind the newly rebuilt Blackberry Inn which was lost in a fire in 1962. Vicky attended Elburn elementary school and graduated from Kaneland High School in 1973. After graduation she attended Waubonsee Community College for a time while still working at the family restaurant until 1978 when she and her brother purchased the business from their parents. In 1984 Vicky left Blackberry Inn and worked for Stuart Andersen Cattle Company for a time as a bartender. She continued to tend bar in the late 1980's at O.T.B. in Aurora. In 1998, Vicky began working for Arthur Andersen in the banquet hall of the St. Charles Country Club.
Vicky loved horses and was especially interested in harness racing. She raced her own horses in Maywood and immortalized her father's name by surnaming one, the Great Granski. Vicky always was kept true to her hometown and supported local causes. In recent months, she volunteered to help raise money for the Kaneland Drama Club because she herself enjoyed theater while she attended Kaneland.
She leaves her father Grant, two siblings, David Larsen of Aurora, IL and Barbara Larsen of Sugar Grove, IL; two nieces, Denise (Chris) Keiner and their daughter Emily of Sycamore, IL, and Deanna Nagel of Ft. Collins, CO; one nephew, Daniel Nagel of Chicago, IL and a community of friends.
She joins now her mother, and her grandmother Hilder Bowne, who was the first to own and operate Blackberry Inn and passed away in a fire on February 2, 1962. Her maternal grandfather Victor Larson, and her paternal grandparents Alden and Laura Larsen.
