PEMBROKE----Richard J. Gibbs, 74, of Pembroke, formerly of Easton, died Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston after a period of failing health.
Born in Cambridge, a son of the late Orville J. and Anna A. (Andon) Gibbs, he was raised in Easton and was a graduate of Oliver Ames High School. He continued his education at Bentley University earning a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics.
A licensed certified public accountant he was employed in the IT Division of Prime Computer and IBM and worked part-time as a bartender for the former 400 Club in Easton and the Crossroads Café of Easton.
He was an All-Star athlete in basketball and football at Oliver Ames High School, was extremely intelligent with a grit wit and ready smile and enjoyed reading and cooking.
Richard is survived by his children, Aimee M. Medeiros of Norton, Kimberly Chew of Norton, Peter Gibbs of Norton, Kassandra Gibbs of Bridgewater and James Gibbs of Bridgewater; a brother, David Gibbs of Westport; a sister, Melissa Flynn of Easton; eight grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday from Noon- 3:00 p.m. in Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street, (Rte.138) Easton with a funeral service at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations in Richard's memory may be sent to the Easton Food Pantry, 136 Elm Street, Easton, MA. 02356.
