He was the son of the late Thomas Dewey Vinson and Thelma Dean John Vinson of Ukiah, CA. He was the widower of Barbra Marie Huston. He was a graduate of Ukiah High, studied accounting at Golden State University and Accounting/Finance at San Francisco State University. He worked as an accountant for Kelly Services for thirteen years in Atlanta, GA. He lived and worked as a substitute teacher in Woodstock, GA for several years before moving closer to his son and family in the early 2000’s. He lived in the Jennings Outdoor Resort Campground, Jennings, FL and enjoyed spending time with friends and family and playing various card games for many years until he moved to Valdosta, GA in 2018. He lived his dream learning how to fly a personal airplane and earned the title “Grey Fox." He visited many U.S. Historic Sites by driving a 5th wheel and an R.V. He was an avid World War I and World War II history enthusiast. He was was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Viola Odean Dais, Orval Eulene Bishop, Bonnie Jo Reid, and his partner Athena “Cat” F. Sylvan. He is survived by his son, Charles B. (Jimmie) Vinson of Valdosta, GA; two grandchildren Megan Vinson and Caleb Vinson; his sister Margie M. Hill of Santa Rosa, CA.
