He was the son of Sebron G. Sneed and Marinda Atkins Sneed.
On May 15, 1860, he married Fannie Finnin at Austin, Travis County, Texas.
They were the parents of two children.
On August 27, 1874 as Sebron G. Sneed, he married Alice P. Bacon at Travis County, Texas.
They were the parents of one child.

Attorney and educator. He was the son of Sebron G. Sneed and Marinda Atkins. He attended Christian Brothers College in Galveston, Texas and won a scholarship to the School of Propaganda in Rome in 1858. He studied for the priesthood in Rome until 1860 when he returned to Texas. In 1861 he enlisted in the Confederate Army as a private in Company G, Sixth Regiment, Texas Infantry. He was later promoted to Captain and was an Assistant Adjutant General when captured by Union troops.

Sneed is best known for his commitment to education and his devotion to the Catholic Church. He established Austin Normal Military School for boys, which operated from 1869 to 1874. He was the first Treasurer of the Austin School Board. In 1881 he was a member of the Texas State Teachers Association committee that encouraged the establishment of the University of Texas. He was also Superintendent of Travis County Public Schools.
