WATERVILLE, Maine - Anne J Edwards, 84, died Dec 10, 1991 in Mid Maine Medical Center in Waterville.
She was born April 20, 1907 in Poultney, Vt, the daughter of William John and Annie (Persons) Edmunds.
Before moving to Maine to be near her daughter, she was a longtime resident of Rutland, Vt, and prior to that of Saxtons River, Vt.
Anne attended Poultney schools, the local academy, and the University of Vermont. Many years she graduated in the same class as her daughter from the University of Maine. While living on the Saxtons River Road she was employed for several years by the Bellows Falls Times. Later she taught school in Walpole NH. After moving to Rutland, she taught third grade there for many years, retiring in 1972.
She was an active member of the Saxtons River Road Neighborhood Club, the Saxtons River Nature Club and the Order of the Eastern Star in Bellows Falls, Vt. Throughout her life she enjoyed reading and remained interested in children and education.
Her husband, Ralph E Edwards, a prominent attorney and official in Bellows Falls, died in 1953.
She is survived by her daughter Jane E Edwards of Winslow; her son Adjutant General Donald E Edwards of Essex Junction, Vt; four grandsons of whom she was particularly proud, Doug and Paul Fowler, and William and Edmund Edwards; her brother Edmund Edmunds of Poultney; and her sister, Hazel Tuthill of Charleston, Ill.
There will be a graveside service Monday at 10 am in Saxtons River Village Cemetery in Vermont. In lieu of flowers, friends, if they wish, may make contributions to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
