Mr. Rodney Dean Blackwell, age 65, of Dallas, Georgia passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at his residence.
Mr. Blackwell was born in Houston, Texas on August 13, 1954 to Virgil Breseford Blackwell and Laverne Dean Maire. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. Prior to his passing, he worked as a management professor at Troy University in Alabama. He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Breseford Blackwell.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Maria Blackwell; his children, Megan Blackwell, Jason Blackwell and Jacob Blackwell; his mother, Laverne Blackwell; his siblings; Jeff Blackwell (Linda), Kathy Edson (Lee) and Ellen Anderson (Steve); nieces and nephews also survive.
It was Mr. Blackwell's wishes to be cremated and a memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2019 4:00PM at Benson Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Cole officiating. His inurnment will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019 11:00AM at Georgia National Cemetery (Canton, Georgia).
The Blackwell family will be receiving friends on Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 2:00PM - 4:00PM at Benson Funeral Home.
