Lighthouse Keeper Dies From Injury
H. Baker, 82, Clapperton Island, died at St. Joseph's Hospital here on Tuesday morning from injuries he sustained when a range light fell down and broke his shoulder and seven ribs.
Mr. Baker, who retired as lighthouse keeper some years ago, was in the habit of assisting his osn, Wm. Baker, who is the present keeper, with the range lights. Friday as usual he rode on horseback to the range light and hoisted it. After the light reached the top, the rope broke and it came crashing down, hitting Baker on the shoulder. The injured man managed to get on his horse and rode the 1 1/2 mile back to the house. Saturday morning he was taken to the hospital here, where he passed on Tuesday morning.
The Funeral service will be held from the home of M. McKenzie, Kagawong nad interment iwll be made in Gordon Cemetery.
