LaToya Hampton Jones, 30, died on Friday, April 25, 2008 in a local hospital.
She was a member of Grace Baptist Tabernacle. LaToya lived in Nashville for seven years where she was employed as a legislative auditor. At the time of her death, she was employed as an internal auditor for the City of Chattanooga.
She was a 1995 graduate of Brainerd High School where she was a first chair saxophonist. She was a 1999 graduate of Fisk University, Cum Laude, earning a Bachelor's Degree in accounting; she received her Master's Degree in Business Administration from Tennessee State University in 2001. LaToya also held the honor and distinction of being a studied and designated Certified Fraud Examiner. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Elgin and Ruth Armstrong.
She is survived by her husband, Marlon Jones, Sr.; son, Marlon Jones, Jr.; stepchildren, LaDarrius Jackson, Shamiyah, and NaTasia Jones; mother, Cassandra (Elmer) Leak of Chattanooga, father, Thomas Hampton of Birmingham; grandmother, Mattie Chatmon; brother, James Chapman; step-siblings, Marcus Leak, Yolanda (Rod) Daniel, Vanessa (Andrae) Kelly, Arlington, Tx., April (Michael) Holloway, Detroit, Mi.; mother-in-law, Lula Reedus, Town Creek, Al.; two brothers-in-law; a devoted friend, Meika Moore, Louisville, Ky.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, at 1 p.m. at Grace Baptist Tabernacle, with Pastor Marshall Robinson officiating.
A family visitation and the The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority's Omega Omega ceremony will be held at the funeral home on Thursday.
Interment will be in Lakewood Memorial Gardens.
