Kathleen Marie Wallace (nee Blute) of Fort Meyers, FL and Sag Harbor, NY and formerly of Madison, NJ passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 15, 2018 after a short illness. She was 94 years old.
Kay, as she was fondly known by family and friends, was born in Boston to the late Michael H. and Ethel "Lena" (Shea) Blute.
Her first husband, Michael T. Wallace Sr., her second husband, Daniel Matthews, her brother Robert Blute, MD and her sister Ann L. Vogt predeceased her.
She was the loving mother of Michael, Mark, Kathleen, Patric and Sean; dear grandmother to Courtney, Ashley, Thomas, Katherine, James, Kerry, Jessica, Megan, Kaitlyn, Diana, Shawn and Matthew. Kay is survived by her five children and 12 granchildren.
Kay was a graduate of Emmanuel College of Boston and a former member of the Morris County Golf Club, Thursday Morning Club, and St. Vincent’s Parish. She also was a keen supporter of the Covenant House in New York raising funds and helping the organization grow its base and city footprint. She loved playing tennis and regularly attended Broadway plays and musicals in Manhattan. She raised five children, was an incredible cook, and was dedicated to helping the sick by visiting them in local hospitals.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 5-7pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at 10:00am at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. Interment will be at St. Vincent Cemetery, Madison.
