A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 12:00 noon at the Chapel of Kistler Hardee Funeral Home.
Eugene was born in Coward, South Carolina on June 17, 1937. He was the son of the late Henry and Annie Eaddy Hunter. Eugene was educated in Florence County Schools and graduated from Allen University in Columbia on a singing scholarship. He was a member of Savannah Grove Baptist Church in Effingham where he served the church in many capacities. Eugene sang with the Prodigal Sons Quarter for many years. He loved serving God, spending time with his family and will be missed dearly.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ellen J. Harper Hunter; his children, David Hunter of New York and Eugene Hunter, Jr. of Georgia; his grandchildren, Brianna and Zachary; his siblings, Clarence W. Hunter and wife, Mildred of Florence, Joan Dunbar of Darlington, and Walter J. Hunter and wife, Barbara of Mississippi; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Annie Eaddy Hunter; his twin sister, Eunice Hunter; and brother, Henry Maxwell Hunter.
