SALISBURY - Robert Lee Sides Sr., 88, of Salisbury, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks. Born March 25, 1917, in Davie County, Mr. Sides was the son of the late Annie Lillie Rainey Sides and Edgar Lee Sides. He was employed by the Cannon Mills Company, where he retired after more than 40 years of service. He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church and the Canaan Senior Saints. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Orilla Sides, on May 5, 1967; his second wife, Omelia Shaver Sides, on Dec. 31, 1978; and his third wife, Augusta McClure Sides, on Aug. 23, 2000. Three brothers, June, Marvin and James, also preceded him. Survivors include son Robert Lee Sides Jr. and wife Doris of Salisbury; daughter Sara S. Leazer and husband Tommy of Salisbury; brother John Henry Sides of Salisbury; sister Ann Zimmerman of Salisbury; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation : Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Monday at Canaan Baptist Church. Service : The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at Canaan Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Graham officiating. The body will lie in-state for one hour before the service. Burial will be at Rowan Memorial Park. Memorials : Memorials may be made to Canaan Baptist Church, 785 Barringer St., Salisbury, NC 28146.
