Travis, John Age 71; of Shepherd; passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland. Services for John will be Saturday, July 8 at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Church in Shepherd with Deacon Jerry Green officiating. There will be a Visitation on Friday, July 7 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Berry Funeral Home in Shepherd.
John was born September 30, 1945 the son of Byron "Barney" and Cecilia (Roberts) Travis. He served in Vietnam and was the 1st person drafted from Isabella County. John married Rosemary Toth October 20, 1979. He worked for the Hicks Corporation, Central Asphalt, and was an Operating Engineer for the local 324 for 30 years. John was also an active member of the Shepherd VFW.
John is survived by his wife Rosemary; his four children Cecilia "Cece" Loft of Atlanta, GA, Diane Travis of Grand Rapids, John Martin (Shelly) Travis of Mt. Pleasant, and Jenelle (Jim) Wood of Gowen; five grandchildren Michael Allmon along with the "herd" Devin, Cameron, Emma, and Tyler Travis; and four siblings Joseph (Judy) Travis, Mary Statler, Gloriann (Jim) Leasher, and Paul (Kathy) Hawkins.
John is preceded by both his parents, his step-mother Velma Travis, his father and mother-in-law Martin and Mary Toth, brothers Dick and Pat Travis, his sister Janet Bissell, and his brothers-in-law Bill Statler, Dean Bissell, and Dennis Toth.
