Mr. David “Dave” L. Hurst, 75, of Anniston, died Monday June 3 at his home surrounded by family after a long illness. Mr. Hurst, originally from Talladega, spent the last 65 years as a resident of Calhoun County, specifically the Saks community. Mr. Hurst was a member of First Baptist Church of Saks.

Services for Mr. Hurst are as follows: Visitation will be Wednesday, June 5 from 5PM-7PM at Gray Brown in downtown Anniston. The funeral will be held the following day on Thursday June 6 at 1pm at First Baptist Church of Saks, with burial at Anniston Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Hurst is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy; a son, Philip (Autumn) Hurst, of Alexandria; four grandchildren, Clayton Terry of Graceville, FL, Kynsleigh, Haven, and Gage Hurst, all of Alexandria; two sisters, Julie (Ronnie) Morgan, and Loretta (Kevin) Weller, all of Mobile; a brother, Alton (Kathy) Hurst, of Lake Charles, LA, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hurst is preceded in death by one son, Christopher Hurst; and his parents, Benjamin (Jewell) Hurst and Pearl Sewell.

Pallbearers include: Pat Borders, Jeff Parrish, Marty Carter, Randy Huckaby, Dennis Mundy, Tony Burdell.

Mr. Hurst dedicated his career to saving lives. One of the first 15 people in Alabama to be certified as a Paramedic, Hurst built life long friends and the respect of many for his work, including his youngest son, Philip, who followed in his Dad’s footsteps. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Piedmont Rescue Squad, or a charity of your choice.
