Marian Joy Hobbs, 93, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Aperion Care of Waldron.

She was born December 15, 1925, in Shelby County, the daughter of Harry and Stella(Sandman)Bass. On June 27, 1954, she married her husband of 65 years, George W."Bill"Hobbs, and he survives.

In addition to Bill, Marian is survived by her sons, Glen W."Bill"(Tina)Hobbs of Shelbyville, and Keith S.(Linda) Scudder, of Lexington, Kentucky; and six grandchildren. She was "GG" to several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John C. Bass; and sisters, Mildred Bowman and Carolyn Morgan.

She graduated in 1943 from Fairland High School.

Marian was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder and coordinated the Cookie, Coffee and Conversation(CCC's)group.

She worked at the Shelbyville-Shelby County Public Library for 25 years, originally in the children's department and then as the library secretary.

Marian was a 60 years member of the Beta Sigma Phi Soroity. She enjoyed traveling with the Carefree Traverlers.

She loved her family and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Freeman Family funeral homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at noon Thursday at the funeral home, with Mark Morningstar officiating.

Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
