Louis R. Marfell was born on June 17, 1933, in Peru, Ill., to Louis and Helen Norwich Marfell. As a young boy he played with his sister, Joyce, in the school band. After high school, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Once out of the Army, he worked for the rest of his life as a carpenter in Local Union 195. When he finally did retire, he spent much time fishing and camping with his companion, Dorothy Rogel. They belonged to the Izaak Walton League Giant Goose Conservation Area where they enjoyed spending a lot of time with their dog Fritz. Louis never married and had no children.
