Greg “Junior” Johnson, of Sabula, IA, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019.
A funeral service will be held at 11am, Friday, September 6, 2019, at Law Jones Funeral Home in Preston, IA. Visitation will take place from 4pm to 6pm, Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Law Jones Funeral Home in Preston, IA, and 1 hour prior to the funeral service. A memorial fund has been established in Greg’s name.
Greg was born September 5, 1961 in Clinton, IA, the son of Milton and Valda (Helfert) Johnson.
He grew up in Miles, IA and graduated from East Central High School with the class of 1979. He went on to be an avid truck driver for many years. Greg had two sons, then later married Royce (Dirks) Johnson, at which time he gained another son and two daughters.
Greg will be forever remembered as an enthusiastic outdoorsman. He loved any activity that would lead him to wide open spaces. In the Summer months, one could often find him camping or boating on the Mississippi River. As Autumn and Winter hit, when he wasn’t watching his beloved Packers, he’d be out hunting and fishing, or hitting the trails on his snowmobile.
Greg will be dearly missed by his wife, Royce; three sons, Derek (Ashley) Johnson, Ryan Johnson and Bobby (Chelsea) Bohannon; two daughters, Jennifer (Ryan) Chapman and Casandra (Nick) Heiar; five grandsons, Payton, Maddux, Brennen, Mason, and Jameson; three granddaughters, Mercedes, Makenna and Piper; a brother, Steve (Susan) Johnson; a nephew Brett (Darcy) Johnson and two nieces, Casey (Todd) Hosette and Katie (Mike) Fitzgerald.
Greg is preceded in death by his grandparents, his father, his uncles and an aunt, as well as his faithful dog, Rambo.
